Emily Bergl teases an enormous ‘Desperate Housewives’ reveal

Posted by Hayley on October 10th, 2010 under Interviews

A lot of times actors will shy away from discussing their early “trying to make it in Hollywood” roles. Don’t believe me? Ask Jennifer Aniston about “Leprechaun” or try to get Renee Zellweger to talk about “The Return of the Texas Chainsaw Massacre.” So imagine my surprise when Emily Bergl was not only seemed grateful for my “Rage: Carrie 2″ appreciation, but very willing to recall her favorite scary movie moments.

And while reminiscing was nice, the real reason for our chat was Emily’s new role on “Desperate Housewives.” Fans met her character, Beth Young, last week when it was revealed recently released and returned ex-con Paul Young had married while incarcerated. But just like the women of Wisteria Lane, Beth never imagined her “true love” would ever be on the other side of that plexiglass.

PopWrap: Before we get to “Desperate Housewives,” I have to tell you how much I love “Rage: Carrie 2″ — seriously underrated horror movie.
Emily Bergl: Thanks! That was the first thing I ever did on camera, so it is really special to me. I feel like it opened a lot of doors for me. [READ THE REST HERE]

Emily Bergl Talks ‘Desperate Housewives’, Special Roles She’s Played, & Her Passion For Giving Back!

Posted by Hayley on October 3rd, 2010 under Interviews

Look out Wisteria Lane, a new housewife is moving in and she’s adding to the neighborhood drama! Actress Emily Bergl, who is currently most known for her role on TNT’s hit drama Southland, will make her debut on ABC’s Desperate Housewives this season as the new wife of the street’s most-feared neighbor Paul Young. Bergl recently chatted with me about what it’s been like joining the popular cast of Desperate Housewives and why this has been the most fun she’s ever had on a show!
A class act, Bergl also emphasized to me on the importance she sees in giving back and why for her being an activist in society is the most important role she’ll ever play. With her extraordinary Theater experiences, versatile television roles, and significant humanitarian efforts, there’s no doubt Emily Bergl is a fascinating addition to the women of Desperate Housewives!

How was it joining the cast of Desperate Housewives? It’s a highly successful long-time running show, were you nervous at all?
Emily-I was nervous. In addition they gave me a very tall order for my first scene. I had to walk down Wisteria Lane with a broken heel, carrying a suitcase, and a fishbowl with a live fish that I had to spill onto the street while the fish was alive while doing a monologue. So that was a little intimidating. But luckily with a show that’s been running several years, the crew all knows each other. They have a good time at work. I have to say the experience has been even more positive than I thought it would be. [READ THE REST HERE]
